What Is the PYP Exhibition?
The PYP Exhibition is the culminating project of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme at the International School of Riga. It gives Grade 5 students the opportunity to apply their learning to real-world issues — combining research, creativity, collaboration, and action.
Through this inquiry-led process, students gain essential skills in communication, problem-solving, and global citizenship.
How Our Students Prepared for the Exhibition
At ISR, Grade 5 learners followed the full IB inquiry cycle:
-
Investigating topics they care deeply about
-
Conducting interviews and research
-
Creating visual and interactive presentations
-
Taking real-world action to create impact
This process showcases the heart of the PYP: student agency and action-driven learning.
Topics That Inspired Change
This year’s students chose bold, timely topics including:
✅ Air pollution & climate change
✅ Animal abuse & care
✅ Food systems & sustainability
✅ War victims & displaced communities
✅ Water pollution
They explored these issues through a global lens, connected with local organizations, and took steps to raise awareness and drive change.
Taking Action — Beyond the Classroom
In addition to researching and presenting, students made a real impact by:
-
Hosting beach clean-ups
-
Supporting the Ukrainian school in Riga
-
Organizing fundraisers for Tavi Draugi
-
Donating to the local Soup Kitchen
The PYP Exhibition is about more than knowledge — it’s about transforming learning into action.
Celebrating a Community Effort
This learning journey was supported by an amazing community:
-
Mentors and advisors from both campuses
-
ISR’s specialist teachers
-
Guest speakers and global interviewees
-
Supportive families
-
Everyone who attended and celebrated with us
We are deeply grateful for the collective effort that made this event a success.
