MESSAGE
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Secondary School at the International School of Riga. ISR offers a combination of challenging academic programmes with extensive extra-curricular opportunities in order to meet the cognitive, social, emotional, ethical and physical needs of students.
Secondary School is an important and challenging time of transition in a child’s life. Our programmes recognise the different needs of Middle and High School students. During their time in Secondary School at ISR, students are exposed to a wide variety of subjects and activities to ensure that they are better prepared for the expectations placed upon them by the High School IGCSE, IBDP and AS/A Level Programmes.
Students from nearly 30 nationalities are taught by a team of internationally experienced, highly qualified educators who help each child to achieve their full potential. Our teachers are committed to providing purposeful, authentic and engaging learning experiences.
The Secondary School academic programme blends together 3 internationally recognised curricula to provide students with a comprehensive and coherent educational experience. This includes the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in Grades 6-8, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Grades 9-10 and AS/A Level in Grades 11-12.
And from September 2020, ISR will offer the Diploma Programme (IBDP). IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education – that we believe is important for our students.
At ISR, students also enjoy a wide range of Arts, Sports, Academics and Activities, (ASA’s), opportunities before, during and at the end of the school day. Also, once a week, Mission & Service (M&S) groups meet. These groups are across grade levels and are initiated by and run by students, giving them more opportunities to learn and demonstrate leadership and organisation skills as well as providing a service to the school and / or broader community.
I personally am excited to be part of the ISR family since 2018 and as you consider ISR for your child, we would be delighted to meet with and show you around or answer any questions that you might have. For further information please get in touch with our Admissions Office at admissions@isriga.lv.
Sincerely,
Sally Monteith
