Kristīne Daktere
Born in Riga and studied in BA School of Business and finance. My professional experience has led me through such industries as financing, real estate, agriculture, waste management and recycling.
I am a passionate professional in strategic change leadership and possess a proven history in leading several investment projects to a multiple times growth in a short period of time through the necessary operational, financial planning and administrative changes.
Even though this is my first experience with a School the daily work of the ISR organisation requires the same operational management as any other business entity. I am excited about the new journey together with the awesome ISR community.

It‘s a pleasure to introduce myself as your new Primary Dean of Students. With over a decade of experience as a Primary Years Programme (PYP) educator, I have had the privilege of teaching across both early years and primary. A recent Master of Education from the University of the People further strengthened my commitment to the PYP framework. It was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate and learn alongside fellow educators from around the globe, and their diverse perspectives enriched my understanding of student agency and well-being. I’m eager to apply my experience in this new role and learn alongside the vibrant community of ISR. I am committed to helping create an inclusive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging.

I am the Interim Secondary Principal at the International School of Riga, where I also teach IB Global Politics and Individuals & Societies. Originally from Rochester, New York, I have worked in international education for over 10 years, including most recently at the American School of Milan in Italy. With experience teaching IB Economics and IB Global Politics, I am passionate about helping students think critically and see themselves as active global citizens. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, traveling with my family, and cheering on my beloved Buffalo Bills. My wife, Alexandra Palmieri, teaches in the Primary School, and our son Leo (3) is beginning his ISR journey this year.
